As Executive Manager, Ted  led the development of a water strategy which moved South Waikato District Council forward to ensure there was adequate water to meet existing and future water demands, and that Council provided water was treated adequately and met the Drinking Water Standard New Zealand. This included complying with strict monitoring and reporting criteria.

Teds team undertook the budgeting, procurement for design services, procurement of equipment supply and installation and procurement of electrical and mechanical system upgrades, undertook all the contract and project management ensuring that the upgrades were completed in time, within budget and agreed standards.  

Projects of note implemented over the 10-year period include:

  • Arapuni Headworks – new bore, improve SCADA and telemetry
  • Water Intake at Blue spring – Te Waihou Water Treatment Plant
  • New Membranes, Ultraviolet Disinfection and Chlorination unit at Te Waihou Water Treatment Plant
  • Upgraded Telemetry and SCADA system

Outcome

Meticulous project management ensured that all upgrades were completed in time, within budget and to the agreed standards.
